Artist Lily Hevesh Creates Mind-Blowing Domino Installations

Set out dominoes in a line and then toppling one over triggers the others to fall, creating an intricate chain reaction that brings all tiles tumbling down – this phenomenon is commonly referred to as “The Domino Effect,” as one event can trigger several similar ones with much greater, sometimes devastating repercussions than anticipated.

Dominoes are small rectangular blocks that can be stacked on end to form long, thin lines. Each domino features its own identity-bearing side – either blank or with spots, or “pips,” like those found on dice – with either blank sides or spots, called “pips,” like those on dice. Most domino sets contain 28 pieces that can be arranged angular or linear patterns for playability; dominoes can even be used to play several complex card-like games!

Lily Hevesh began playing dominoes at 9 years old. She found immense satisfaction arranging them into straight and curved lines before flicking the first domino to send an entire sequence tumbling over. Now at 20 she is an established domino artist, with over 2 million subscribers to YouTube – known for creating stunning setups that have graced television shows as well as Katy Perry concerts!

Hevesh works from her home studio in Santa Barbara, Calif. She begins by considering the theme or purpose of an installation and gathering images that she might use, then creates test versions to ensure every part works flawlessly before assembling everything together in its proper order. Furthermore, Hevesh records video footage at each step, so she can make precise corrections if necessary.

Once Hevesh’s tests have proven successful, she begins building 3-D elements into her setups before adding flat arrangements. Depending on the size and complexity of her final installation, completion could take anywhere from weeks to months; often working on it during lunch breaks at work or while watching television or listening to music.

Although Hevesh claims that her art is inspired by nature, the Domino Effect principles can still be seen at work in her creations. While creating her pieces, Hevesh is also building self-efficacy and altering her sense of self. Each domino she sets up serves as an affirmation that over time will lead to larger transformations; making her bed each morning is an act that proves she’s an adult responsible enough to maintain their home properly – it sets in motion a chain reaction of cleaning and organization that will transform her life over time.

David Brandon has fully embraced the Domino Effect in his business. After experiencing a disastrous leadership change at Domino’s Pizza, he implemented measures designed to promote and reinforce Domino’s core values – “Champion Our Customers”. Reworking dress codes, creating college recruiting systems, and working with crowd-sourced auto designers on creating an 80 pizza delivery car all help make Domino’s more attractive to current and potential employees alike. All these changes aim at making the Domino Effect work for him.
