The Hong Kong Prize (hk prize) is one of Asia’s premier scholarships, honoring high school students for their academic excellence and extracurricular engagement, encouraging them to follow their passions with global perspectives. Hosted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation with support from Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. As well as receiving a financial prize, winners will also have access to top research facilities within Hong Kong for conducting research.

Arts have long been used as an avenue to voice Hong Kongers’ hopes and concerns about human rights at home and abroad. To this end, the 2022 HK Arts Prize “Colours of Humanity” provides all local artists an opportunity to explore their vision for humanity’s future through creative works. Curated by Justice Centre Hong Kong–an organization which advocates for an inclusive society–this prize aims to ensure safe passage for refugees and asylum seekers into Hong Kong.

Over time, the Hong Kong Prize has been bestowed upon numerous authors for their literary efforts. This highly competitive competition serves to promote both their reputation and cultural awareness of Hong Kong. Applicants must meet specific requirements such as writing abilities and understanding of Hong Kong history and culture – but winning this prize could make the effort well worthwhile!

Members from thirteen professional film bodies in Hong Kong cast votes for each category, and winners were revealed at an awards ceremony held late December.

US lawmakers have nominated five Hong Kong democracy activists – Joshua Wong, Lai Yin-wai and Chow Chun-ying among them – for the Nobel Peace Prize. This nod stands in solidarity with millions of Hongkongers who oppose Beijing’s crackdown against dissent following last summer’s pro-democracy protests and its enforcement of its National Security Law which critics claim permits arrest without charge and transfer them back to mainland China.

As well as receiving a monetary prize, winners will also have an opportunity to conduct research in Hong Kong’s premier laboratories while learning more about local culture and history.
